Edimburg, 1805, Second Edition. Corresponde al volumen VIII que contiene grabados (19, faltan la 2 y la 3 del original) y mapas (3 espléndidos mapas doblados, al final del texto). Algunos un poco desgastados. No solamente contiene mapas, planos y dibujos de flora y fauna, sino también tipografía abisinia y sus estudios. Según el estudioso Cox, la segunda edición es la mejor. Bruce llegó a Alejandría en junio de 1768 encargado de descubrir las fuentes del Nilo. Llegó a Abisinia en 1770. Aunque fue cuestionado por sus contemporáneos, "the substantial accuracy of every statement concerning his Abyssinian travels has since been amply demonstrated" (Ency. Britannica).
