Marseille, 1746. Charming mid-18th-century engraved harbor chart. Many sounding depths and significant architectural features are shown in a pleasing manner. Bold rhumb lines impart a nice feel to the map, with north pointing downward.In VG+, clean condition, couple of small age spots, nice example displaying only minor light age toning. Sheet measures 8 1/2" x 6 1/4.". Joseph Roux was a hydrographer from Marseille, France. He was also a map publisher and manufacturer of navigating instruments. The King of France granted him permission to be called "Hidrographe du Roy" (Royal Hydrographer).
