Decorative view of the Siege of Barcelona, showing a small map of the fortified harbor at the top, a battle scene in the center and a spectacular allegorical series of images surrounding the main view.  A finew view by Paul Decker, which appeared in "Repraesentatio belli, ob successionem in Regno Hispanico.. published in Ausburg in 1720 by Jeremias Wolff. The Siege of Barcelona occurred in April 1706 during the War of the Spanish Succession.  the Franco-Spanish army led by Phillip V laid siege to Barcelona in an attempt to recapture it following its fall to an English-led Allied army the previous year.  The siege failed when a large British fleet carrying reinforcements under the command of John Leake arrived to defend the City.  Barcelona would survive another 8 years, until falling in the Siege of 1714.
