Strapwork title and scale of miles cartouches and a bold moiré patterned sea. An inset map of the Congo entitled 'CONGI REGNI in Africa Chriftiani Nova Descriptio'. Lake shows the mythical lakes Zaire, Zembre and Zaflan.Title and scales each have their own strapwork cartouches. Gerard Mercator's Atlas sive Cosmographica was published and augmented between 1606 and 1641 by Jodocus Hondius, his son Hendrik and by Joannes Janssonius.
