Sporadic light browning and spotting, marbled e.ps., bookplate in vol. 1, inner gilt dentelles, contemporary dec. gilt edged full brown speckled calf, some very minor rubbing, gilt filleted edges worn to corners, upper leading corners of a few leaves in vol. 1 very sl. chipped, gilt filleted raised bands dec. gilt floral compartments and gilt lettered leather title labels to sl. rubbed spines very sl. chipped at head and tail, lacking 3 of the 4 leather volume number labels from spines. ¶ ESTC T97915. The Adventurer (1752–1754) was a London 18th-century bi-weekly newspaper undertaken after the successful conclusion of The Rambler. Contributors included John Hawkesworth and Samuel Johnson.
