The card playing board box slides out of a card slipcover with browned scratched and sl. chipped paper title label depicting a Victorian couple on a train with a chess board resting on their knees. Once open the board and draughts are revealed, 12 red and 12 cream turned ivory draughts sit on metal pins so they hold their position on a bumpy journey. Extremities rubbed, edges of slipcover rubbed and worn with some loss to head and tail of edges. ¶ Registration No. 10419, printed to bottom lower corner of board, dates the design to 1884.
