The book clearly didn't make an impression on Nicoll as it remains un read & un-opened as it came from the printers. The book is a critical study of Galt's 'Annals of the Parish', the book which made his reputation, 'The Provost', 'Sir Andrew Wylie', 'The Ential', and 'Ringan Gilhaize'.
