Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ The complete known works of Claude Goudimel [1505 - 1572], a little known French Composser. He was Killed during the St Bartholemews day Massacres, when thousands of Hugenots were Killed in Lyon. He started, in 1551 as a Proofreader for Nicolas Du Chemin becoming his muscial editor & partner until 1555. He then left & began to work on Harmonizing the Genevan Psalter for Calvin. Although he did not write any tunes for the Psalter, he wrote many motets for the Psalms & his idea that the Psalms should be sung in the home saw his versions popular across France & Beyond. This set contains all his Works, the Motets for the 150 Psalms, the later editions of the Psalter & his secular works, mainly composed before his conversion to Protestantism.
