Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ The author's lectures on Altruism, written in response to Darwin's 'Descent of Man', in which Drummond seeks to harmonize Christianity and evolution with his general thesis that the struggle for life gradually became altruistic in character, or a 'struggle for the life of others'. Drummond had intended to only publish after revision later in his life, but ill health and the risk of the lectures appearing in a pirated form forced him to send his MS to the printers prematurely.
