A fair copy of a scarce work. Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ A catalogue of the plants held in the gardens & greenhouses of the Jardin des Plantes of the newly founded Muséum National D'Histoire Naturelle in Paris. The Museum had been founded in 1793 from the Jardin du Roi of Louis XIV. The plants are listed with their Latin & French names & each very brief notes. Desfontaines states that he had written the catalogue to enable foreign museums to exchange specimens so as to enrich the collections of both. René Louiche Desfontaines [ 1750 - 1833 ] was director of the Museum on several occasions & was a noted biologist. Sir Charles Throckmorton, 7th Baronet [ 1757 - 1840 ] of Coughton Court, Worcestershire.
