Contemporary full calf, flat spine lettered and ruled in gilt, worn, hinges starting to crack. Bookplate (Rochester Theological Seminary) and with its stamp on title. Dampstain at bottom of first 25 lvs and last 20 last lvs. The first complete edition of the Bible in Sgau Karen, and the third of the New Testament (first 1843). American missionaries first arrived in 1828 among Karen tribes of Burma. The first known work printed at the Tavoy press is a dictionary by Wade published in 1844. Cordier BI 155.
