Horace Hayman Wilson was professor of Sanskrit and member of the Royal Asiatic Society. The text of Karika has derived from several sources: a.o. Mr. Colebrooke's transcript; Prof. Lassen's version in Latin (Bonn 1832); and H.H. Wilson's own manuscript.
