Paris: Félix Juven, [1902]. 18mo, (8), 301, (2)pp. Quarter crimson morocco over marbled boards, gilt lettering at spine, marbled endpapers, orig. pale yellow printed wrappers preserved, inscrpt. at half-title, light marginal embrowning, a very good copy, attractively bound. ¶ First Edition, inscribed by the author to Edouard Champion. Stirred by the Boulangists, Maurice Barrès (1862-1923) entered politics as Deputy for Nancy in 1889. The movement's mystico-nationalism was the inspiration for a trilogy which includes the present work along with Les Déracinés (1897) and L'Appel au Soldat (1900). Talvart & Place 24A.
