Tan wrappers, lettered in red and black, vignette, text printed in red and black with enlarged initials throughout, initial leaf and final suite of woodcuts lightly embrowned, a nearly fine, unopened copy. ¶ First Edition limited to 400 numbered copies 'sur papier de Hollande Van Gelder.' The present work contains two previously unpublished poems by Jules Valles (1833-85), who rose from humble origins to become a politically controversial author and journalist, noted for his sketches of bohemianism and his searing autobiographical trilogy in which he described the struggles of his youth and later years of revolt.
