Browned throughout, but a good working copy. ¶ Second edition. Bangs (1778-1862) was an itinerant Methodist preacher who is regarded as the founder of Methodism in the Province of Quebec. He returned to the United States in 1812 and, after editing three Methodist papers, gave himself to missionary work and founded the Methodist Missionary Society; he was also acting President of Wesleyan University in the absence of Olin. Almost entirely self-educated, Bangs published widely and this title is his fourth book. It was first published in New York in 1816. Not in Howes.
