Contemp. full vellum, early ms notes on endpaper, lacking half-title. Very good copy with fine impressions of the plates. ¶ First Edition of one of the most popular emblem books. According to Landwehr the plates were engraved by C. Boel, C. Galle and P. de Jode after Otto Vaenius but Nagler & Bryan attribute the engraving to Gijsbert van Veen. Landwehr, Low Countries, 678.
