The Dictionary was the best known work of the antiquarian and bibliographer Bartlett, passing through four editions. He also wrote the Personal Narrative of Explorations and Incidents Connected with U.S. & Mexican Boundary Commission, and compiled the first catalogue of the John Carter Brown collection of early Americana.
