Report on the Typography of the Cambridge University Press. Prepared in 1917 at the Request of the Syndics by Bruce Rogers and now Printed in Honour of his Eightieth Birthday.
n.p.: Printed for his Friends by The University Printer, Christmas 1950. (ROGERS, BRUCE) Limited edition, one of 500 copies. 4to. Numerous illustrations of typefaces, ornamental initials, and borders. Title-page in red and black, with head and tail pieces in red. Pale gray paper- covered boards, black cloth spine, Rogers's device in red on covers, spine lettered in gilt. Some very light soiling to covers. Blumenthal, pp. 69-73. ¶ This is Rogers's printing (as a Christmas gift) of his formal review of the Cambridge University Press, originally submitted in 1917, three months after he had started working there. In the review, he described the conditions he found at the press, including comments on type and equipment, and ended with a section on "Future Policy." "The report . . . became a kind of credo of a typographic practitioner" (Blumenthal)
