Thirty years after he assumed the professorship he was still writing to a learned friend, "Who were the Sophists...Write something for me on Beauty and Sublimity." With the bookplate of Emma C[atherine] Embury, "poet and writer of tales...Poe, however was doubtless misled by Mrs. Embury's personal charm when he paid her stories almost lavish tribute."
