ΒΆ Inscribed by the author on the half title: "To Harry Byrne Esq. -- gentleman, sportsman, friend -- with the admiration of the author, J Blan van Urk 1942" This work was originally projected to four volumes. Volume II appeared the following year, but then war closed in and the project ended. It was the last hurrah of The Derrydale Press, and remains today one of the greatest of all American books on sport
