[Italian, ca. 1770s]. (FAN) Opened, the fan measures approximately 11 x 20 inches; mounted in a glazed gilt shadow boxfan display case, 14-1/2 x 24-1/2 inches overall. . Some cracks along the folds, a little wear toward the edges, overall bright and attractive. ΒΆ A very handsome fan, mounted on bone ribs with carved handles, featuring an unusual scene of nine elegantly dressed men and women harvesting grapes, preparing for wine-making, and drawing wine from the casks in a bucolic setting beside a running stream. Three hens, a cockerell and a duck complete the assembly, which goes about its work with graceful tranquility. This is the first time we have seen a scene of viticulture presented on a fan
