Spine worn, some rubbing and browning, waterstaining not affecting text, else a very good copy of this issue. ¶ A popular weekly periodical devoted to literature and politics noted for its distinguished list of contributors and its place in the literary world, to be superseded only by the publication of the "North American Review." The editor, Joseph Dennie, was a popular essayist and editor of several literary periodicals. He organized the "Tuesday Club" in Philadelphia and his "Lay Preacher" essays are well recognized among his works. ¶ This issue contains an article by Dennie on Earthquakes, following that which disrupted the Mississippi area, with mention of previous earthquakes around the world. There is information on lightning and Dr. Franklin's studies. A letter from Franklin to Georgiana Shipley is printed containing a poem Franklin wrote concerning the death of "Mungo." There is an article on Classical Literature by the Rev.
