In the fall of 1798 European leaders allied themselves against the Treaty of Campo Formio. This was the war of the Second Coalition including Russia, Austria, England, Turken, Portugal, Naples and the Pope. This report includes the Directory's declaration of war on Hungary, Tuscany and Bohemia and describes the actions and movements of the various countries. There is no mention of Bonaparte who was involved in the Egyptian expedition. The disasters of 1799 brought about the fall of the Directory and the selection of Bonaparte as one of the three Provisional Consuls. Barras, President of the Directory at the time of this report was known not only for his involvement in the Revolution, but to him goes a great deal of credit for promoting Bonaparte. He was Josephine's lover prior to her involvement with Bonaparte Offered for US$ 150.00 by: James Cummins Bookseller - Book number: 23693 | |||
