Disbound, some browning, last leaf torn mostly separated else a very good copy with the contemporary signature of John C. Helvinston of Effingham County, Georgia on the verso of the last leaf of text. Shipton and Mooney 30216; Pearl 12. ¶ Edmund Randolph, former Secretary of State, had been forced to resign his position due to a charge (unproven) that he had accepted a bribe from the French to oppose the Treaty with Britain. In his defense he wrote the "Vindication" offering his papers up for public examination. This was published December 18 1795 and Cobbett responded with this pamphlet, apparently written in five days, and published in early January by Bradford
