Williams-Madan-Green-Crutch 73. ΒΆ PRESENTATION COPY inscribed by Dodgson on the half title: "Sophia Christian[a] Taylor, from the Author, 1869." Carroll gave this presentation copy to "Christie" Taylor probably on the occasion of his visit to Guilford, where he photographed her on Sep. 3. 1869, shortly after the publication in July. The second foreign-language edition of Alice (preceded by the German translation earlier the same year)
