Chromolithographic wrappers depicting the coronation of Edward VII in Westminster Abbey (front wrapper only, worn). Shaken, some marginal chipping, frontispiece loosened. Text and illustrations complete (lacking backing wrapper and three ad leaflets called for by Sadleir). A good copy in custom full morocco slipcase with cloth chemises. Sadleir 3482. ¶ One of the series of "notorious, enormously successful and often insulting satires on Queen Victoria, the Prince of Wales, the Court, the Ministers, and the hangers-on to Royalty in general" (Sadleir). "In 1872 Beeton's relationship with Ward and Lock (as it now was) deteriorated sharply over his use of the Beeton Christmas Annual to satirize the royal family" (DNB); He ultimately lost control of the business use of the Beeton's name.
