ΒΆ The first or Green Series of the Angler's Note-Book was published in 1880; the Yellow Series (or Second Series) appeared serially from 1884 to 1886, in twelve irregular installments, brought to a close by the death of Thomas Satchell The present volume is copy no. 1 of 12 large paper copies, a presentation from the publisher Elliot Stock to Alfred Wallis, who wrote the introduction, inscribed "To Alfred Wallis, with the Publisher's kind regards and very many thanks, June 7 1888" on front free endpaper. The volume also includes a 2-page autograph letter from the publisher dated 19 December 1887 discussing proofs for the book, with a page of closely written notes in Wallis' hand tipped in at p. 97, and the original prospectus loosely inserted Filled with bibliophilic and angling material of enduring interest.
