Title: Wyeth at Kuerners.
Description: Boston, Houghton Mifflin, 1976. 1st ptg. VG in VG DJ. A book about the artist by his wife that contrains 370 reproductions, 315 of which have never been reproduced before. It reveals a startlingly intimate view of Wyeth at work. Betsy explains that her husband begins with scores of quick prestudies in pencil, dry brush and water color which he spreads on the floor and tacks on the walls of his studio when he is reaqdy to start on a tempera painting. Many of these still bear the splash marks of raindrops, paw prints of family dogs, artist's footprints, and in one case an added drawing by Wyeth's young son James. Kuerner farm in Pennsylvania is one of only two locations Wyeth cetered on, the other being the Olson farm in Maine. We see the sequence of drawings grow dynamically toward the final painting.
