In 1773 people in Wilton NH gathered to raise the frame of a brand new meetinghouse but a huge center roof beam gave way. dropping 53 workers three stories to the ground & collapsing tons of trussowrk, planks, joists & metal tools on them. 5 died, 48 were injured. The only record of the catastrophe was an heirloom copy of an anonymouse ballad memorializing it.
