London: Ward, Lock, and Tyler, Warwick House, no date (unlisted Junior Presentation Volume, so probable 1st printing; toybooks 6d to 1s, late mid 19th?); dark red boards stamped in black & elaborate gilt w vignettes of children riding, boating, bird nesting, and perhaps haying in the country, similar elaborate gilt spine with girl and rabbit, blindstamped back, yellow endpapers, 16 coloured plates and numerous illustrations "by eminent artists", 5.25x7.25; 307 pp + 4 pp catalogue.. Juvenile hardback. Conservative AB condition grading, secure packing, international shipping. Contains A Visit to the New Forest, Always Do Your Best, and Lizzie Lindsay. Large type, nice engravings,chapter head and capital decorations, but no illustrations in text, in general rather muddy lithos. CONDITION: Good Plus; gilt bright on front board, dulled but very clear on spine, bookseller's embossure (HH Smith Strand) upper right front endpaper, very foxed edges, extrems a bit bumped and worn, stitching showing between 1st printing and 2nd signature.
