Epicure [but Paris]: Chez les Amis du bon homme Sylene, c. 1812-1814. First and only edition of this extremely rare compilation of French drinking songs. Text printed in a double border. Hand-colored woodcut frontispiece. 128 pages plus a 16-page almanac for the year 1815. 16mo. Attractively bound in recent cloth. Uncut. Original printed wraps, decorated with woodcuts, bound in. Vicaire 60, not mentioning the almanac. Grand-Carteret (3404) describes, interestingly, a different frontispiece (but the one in the present copy definitely belongs here, as the same woodcut is repeated on the rear wrapper). An excellent copy of a rare piece of ephemeral literature.
