It was originally translated into English in 1988 by publisher Henry Vizetelly, who was imprisoned for obscene libel the same year for his translation of Zola's 'The Soil'. This revised and expurgated version was subsequently produced by Vizetelly's son and for years remained the most widely available English translation. Good.
