Title: The Phasian Bird.
Description: Faber, London, 1948. 1st Edition. Hardcover. First edition - not the subsequent cheap edition, as identified by the cloth binding and the presence of the publishers red top-edge stain. 8vo. 341pp. Blue cloth lettered and ornately ruled in gold at the spine. A very minor slant to the binding and a tiny hint of tape residue marking to the free endpapers. Very good indeed in the attractive Mildred Eldridge-illustrated dust wrapper, non-price-clipped but a little nicked at the extremities with several tiny fractions of loss. An extended nature story involving an oriental pheasant hatched in the nest of a native British bird, set in the context of rural England during the Second World War. Very Good/Very Good.
