This copy inscribed by the author on the title page to an un-named recipient and dated the year of publication. 8vo. xviii, 428pp. Brown boards lettered in gold at the spine. Illustrated with several maps. A small bump to the tip of one corner, the edges lightly spotted, and the boards very slightly curved. A good bright copy in very lightly rubbed non-price-clipped dust wrapper. An account of the author's Yangtze voyage, beginning at the delta in Shanghai and journeying to the headwaters, whilst the narration makes a journey back in time, writing about contemporary times in Shanghai and Nanjing, and events that date back increasingly farther in cities upriver. Good/Very Good.
