First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 314pp. Full green buckram lettered in gold at the spine and with the publisher's top edge stain somewhat faded and patchy. With a frontispiece and seven photographs. The buckram faded at the backstrip, and with just a touch of further fading to the board extremities. Spine ends lightly rubbed and a tiny bump to the tip of a single corner. Some offset from the dust wrapper lettering to the upper board, and just a hint of spotting to the free endpapers and to the half-title. A nice crisp copy in price-clipped and a little dust soiled dust wrapper, tanned at the spine panel and a little nicked at the spine ends with several tiny fractions of loss and several tiny closed tears. Some fifty essays, reviews, studies and other short pieces, including a section devoted to Williamson's travels in North America and passages from 'The Sun in the Sands' which do not appear in the 1941 book of the same name. Very Good/Very Good.
