Los Angeles, Ward Ritchie Press. 1948. One of 1000 copies by Ward Ritchie, introduction by Lindley Bynum. ix, 111 pages, portraits, cloth spine, pictorial boards, 8 1/2 x 5 3/4". Very good. Bookplate on front end paper: "From the Library of John S. Sandoval, Historian, 1906-1991." Bidwell was a member of the first organized emigrant train to reach California in 1841. These articles describe his trip across the plains and his early life in California and were first printed in the Century Magazine in 1890 and 1891, and later in his "Echoes of the Past" in 1914.
