Ex Officina Hackiana. 1624. LATIN LANGUAGE. 720 pages; bound in full leather, wear to the corners, top and bottom of the spine and damage across the bottom of the back board (removed leather, 1 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch). An account of the 'Gunpowder Plot of 1605', a failed assassination attempt on King James I of England in October/November 1605. Carried out by English Catholics led by Robert Catesby, it was a plan to blow up the House of Lords during the State Opening of Parliament with the King in attendance. Catesby was shot and killed, eight others were tortured, tried, hanged, drawn & quartered. The suppression of the plot is still celebrated to the present by 'Bonfire Night' in Engand on the 5th of November. Very Good.
