Darwin was a frequent contributor to The London Times and often would quote Dickens or refer to his life and achievements. In 1940, when Oxford University issued a set of Dickens' classic works, Darwin was chosen to write the foreword for "The Pickwick Papers". "Bernard Darwin (1876-1961), grandson of the famous naturalist, is celebrated as the greatest golf writer of the twentieth century and justifiably so.
