" (1929); "the Determination of Electron Distributions from Measurements of Scattered X-Rays. " (1930). Arthur Holly Compton (1892-1962) was a physicist and a leading authority on nuclear energy, X-Rays and plutonium production. He observed and explained the "Compton effect", the increase in wavelength of X-Rays scattered by collisions with electrons. For this discovery he shared the Nobel prize in Physics in 1927..
