Title: Thought Blossom
Description: 1855. WILLIS, N. Parker, ed. THE THOUGHT-BLOSSOM: A MEMENTO. New York: Leavitt and Allen, 1855. Fifteen black and white steel engravings and a color-printed vignette title-page, plus a duplicate of the first plate; all are very clean and quite fresh. Octavo. 224 pp. Publisher's elaborately gilt-decorated red morocco binding is sadly worn. The top board is detached; the backstrip is heavily sunned and tattered, with bands of clear tape anchoring it to boards. Text leaves are clean but lightly toned. Contemporary gift inscription. Some of the more notable authors included in this anthology of prose and verse are Keats and Leigh Hunt, James Fennimore Cooper, Mrs. Sigourney, Charles Dickens, William C. Bryant, and Lydia Maria Child. This copy has nice plates, including a view of Niagara Falls by W. H. Bartlett, but is offered as is due to the condition of the binding. .
