Title: De Particulis Latinae Orationis
Description: -18. TORSELLINO, Orazio. DE PARTICULIS LATINAE ORATIONIS Libellus utilissimus, recognitus olim et locupletatus. Leipzig, M.G. Weidmann, 1719. Octavo. [xx]1118[136]pp. "A very useful book about particles in Latin orations. Re-organized and enriched by Jacob Thomasius. Now enriched and polished further by Joseph Conrad Schwartz. Second edition." With an impressive list of degrees after each editor's name on the red and black title page. A chubby book, stiff with references to ancient authors, about prepositions, conjunctions, adverbs of degree, and other small links used to construct Latin sentences. Lent a little charm by a copperplate frontispiece depicting a formal garden, swarming with industrious bees, where paths named "Livius," "Varro," "Columella," etc. wind around flowerbeds named "Caesar," "Terentius," etc. Fine lilies and tulips grow here and there. Name crossed out in ink to title; small corner dampstain to first few leaves; otherwise a fine copy in nearly pristine original stiff vellum wrappers. Title in ink to spine. .
