He became well known for his quarterly publication of true stories in "Old Timer's Review", and for his many books. This book tells the story of Will Gallacher of the J + H. In 1908 Will's widowed mother came to Indian Tank at the edge of a vast expanse of lava beds. There Will, his mother and two brothers filed on a homestead and began to "prove up" on it.
