Title: There's Something in the Water: A Compilation of Children's Short Stories and Artworks [Wildlife Story Book Series].
Description: Sydney, Chatswood Willoughby City Council, 2014. Paperback small quarto, stapled, very good condition, illustrated thick card covers, colour drawings, top corner rear cover creased, white background lightly marked rear cover, base spine little rubbed, minor edgewear. 62 pp. This book of short stories is part of an educational project designed to facilitate 'kids teaching kids' about local wildlife in the Willoughby area on Sydney's north shore. Year 5 classes at each primary school in Willoughby were asked to focus on their local water catchment and the wildlife that depends on it. An educational talk was given to the students so they could learn more about the Willoughby waterways and the animals that live in ponds, creeks, the Lane Cove River, and Middle Harbour. The children then wrote a story (and created art) on a particular animal, and read the story to a younger student. This book contains the winning stories from the participating schools.
