Description: Trajecti ad Rhenum [Utrecht], Apud Guilielmum Croon, 1730. Sm 8vo. W. engr. front. ['H. de Leth inv. et fec.' and mounted on upper free endp.] & engr. vignette on title. Fine contemp. full blindst. vellum. (XXXII, 528, XXIV pp.). (Ownership inscr. in ink and pencil on Upper free endp. in ink & lower free endp. 2 lines in pencil & lower paste down 'Bibliotheek Sarphati Amst. 1866 5 fl', which is apparently an auction entry, see note below). Hirsch vol. V, p. 767: '.....schrieb das wertvolle Buch....': BMN I, 19: Blake, p.475: Choulant, Biblioth.medico-historia, 210: DMB, 2058: 'Daniël Vink matriculated at Utrecht as a medical student in 1728. He graduated MD there on February 1729.... Vink settled in practice at Utrecht. A year after his graduation he published a learned medico-philological work: Amoenitates...': A fine copy from the library of Dr. S.Sarphati, see DMB c. 1727 - 1730: Sarphati (1813 - 1866) very much cared about the then existing miserable situation many labourers and their families lived in. In 1842 he gave the incentive for the 'Nederlandsche Maatschappij ter bevordering van de Pharmacie', he further founded a people's nursery school, took the initiative of the founding of the 'Maatschappij tot bevordering van Landbouw en Landontginning', founded the Society for National Industry, and was instrumental in the building of the 'Paleis voor Volksvlijt', founded the 'Nederlandsche Bouwmaatschappij'. According to Lindeboom his library of 2150 items was sold by Frederik Muller in Amsterdam in 1866, in a 65 page catalogue.
