Good. - Octavo, brown cloth titled in gilt on the spine with blind-stamped decorations in blind on the covers. The covers are rubbed and soiled with wear to the corners. The head of the spine is heavily chipped with a quarter inch of the cloth having perished. There is a 2 inch split to the cloth along the middle of the rear joint with some corresponding chips to the spine. iv & 503 pages plus a 24-page publisher's catalog, illustrated with numerous textual engravings. A previous owner's name is stamped at the top of the front endpaper and title page. Lacking the half-title, there is a piece torn from the bottom front corner of the title and the first page, not affecting the text. A good working copy.

First American edition.

Includes much on American trade, including the economic needs of the American Indians, the Hudson's Bay Indians and thus the Hudson's Bay Company, the effects of slavery on production, cotton manufacture leading up to the cotton-gin and the progress of cotton manufacture in America, etc. etc. etc. Good .
