Three small broadsheets are laid in. Two of them, one on gray stock and one on cream stock, are poems by Kitty Parsons, "Gloucester Fisherman" and ""Measured Mile". The third, on tan stock, is a poem by Myfanwy Haycock, "The Miracle (After war-damage, London, 1944)". A note by Herbert B. Covert below the poem reads: "As the above has to do with gratitude, too, we thought it appropriate to enclose it."
Myfanway Haycock [1913-1963] was an Anglo-Welsh artist, poet and broadcaster. She began her career as an illustrator and subsequently became a journalist, author and poet, often illustrating her poems and stories with woodcuts and black-and-white illustrations. In 1943, she joined the BBC in London, where she gave regular readings and had two of her radio plays broadcast. She also continued her work as a journalist, designed cards, published her poems, illustrated books and became a member of the Society of Women Journalists. Very good .
