INSCRIBED & SIGNED BY THE CANADIAN COMPOSER - Octavo, 10-1/4 inches high by 7 inches wide. Softcover, bound in printed tan wraps. The covers are stained with creases to the corners and a tiny piece torn from the top edge of the front cover. [vi] & 64 pages. The book includes a brief paragraph about the history of Canada in 1690 which sets the stage for the subsequent dramatic cantata, 2 pages of lyrics followed by the 64 pages of music accompanied by the lyrics. The title page is soiled with a tiny chip to the top edge. A few page corners are lightly creased and there is some staining to the front edge of the last 2 leaves. Good.

Inscribed and signed by the composer "S.W. Ewing, Esq. / With Henry Graves Compliments, / 1931" at the top of the front cover. Beacuse of the staining, parts of the inscription are smudged.

Rare.

In addition to Grave's own compositions, he has incorporated 4 songs from J. Murray Gibbon's "The Canadian Folk-songs", which he credits at the front of the book. The author additionally incorporates the Canadian national anthem "O Canada, We Stand On Guard For Thee" within the finale of his work. Good .
