Scientist and explorer Robert de Lamanon was a member of Laperouse's 1785-88 expedition. In the course of the expedition, according to Georges Petit and Jean Theodorides, de Lamanon was the first to discover [eight years before Humboldt] the laws of geomagnetism. The introduction to the catalog notes that Laperouse did not have a lot of use for the scientists on his expedition and that he took a particularly intense dislike to the young scientist Lamanon, with his modern, independent attitudes and ideas. The text is in French. Offered for US$ 25.00 by: Blue Mountain Books & Manuscripts, Ltd. - Book number: 13669 See more books from our catalog: Travel & Exploration | |||
