Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1981. ADVANCE PROOFS WITH A TYPED LETTER SIGNED BY GARSON KANIN - Quarto, 11-1/4 inches high by 9-1/4 inches wide. Stitched gatherings bound into shorter plain purple wraps. The wraps are stained with a corner crease. 255 pages, with profuse photographic illustrations throughout, including numerous full and double-page illustrations. There is a stain to the top corner of the front blank and a few page corners are lightly creased. Very good. A proof copy, referred to as "Galleys" by the author in his letter. Laid into the front of the book is a 76 word Typed Letter Signed by Garson Kanin on his personal 10-1/2 inch by 11 inch stationery. In his letter, addressed to Agnes, Garson Kanin expresses his pleasure that she is willing to "look over the enclosed galleys", and praises her for taking "the time out of your extremely busy schedule to help a pal." Kanin has enclosed a large brown addressed stamped return envelope [also laid into the book] for her to return the galleys "with, I pray, a favorable quote or blurb or comment." Signed "Garson".
