The covers are bumped with some small stains to the front cover. The head of the spine is lightly chipped & there is a 1-inch tear to the top of the rear joint. 127 pages. There is an owner's attractive bookplate on the front pastedown. A word is crossed out in ink on page 122 & there is a small area of soiling to the last page of the text. Very good.

In 1901, Martin Schutze [1867-1950] married Eva Lawrence Watson, a painter and photographer who, along with Alfred Stieglitz, was one of the founders of the Photo-Secessionists. The Schutzes were co- founders in 1902 of an art colony in Woodstock, N.Y. Martin Schutze was also active in establishing the Renaissance Society, which was headed by Eva Watson-Schutze from 1931 until she died in 1935. Schutze's vision was responsible for the creation of the Historical Society of Woodstock in 1929.
